'Het is geen pop, het is geen rock, het is gewoon mooi!'

The idea of starting a band started at our weekendjob a few years ago. Wild plans were created about touring in a caravan, playing in the open fields and discover the world. When we told others about our plans we found Jan-Willem and Jeroen to complete the creation of our band. We started with the name 'The Essence' but it soon turned out that 'Whatever' would be a more practical name. This all happened in the summer of 2005. We started building a studio and started playing in april 2006. We felt like heroes!

The first period included playing covers en learning to play our instruments. When the feeling got better we started to write our own songs. After a few months we realised 'Memories'. June 26nd 2007 was the day of our first gig and in november 2007 we recorded three songs which are available on this myspace. In may 2008 we changed our name to '8 minutes'. There is a story which tells that every human being has 8 minutes in his life where he/she has an experience of happiness-climaxes. We all had one of these climaxes in our band which made '8 minutes' the right choice. 4 Guys play whatever they feel, whatever they love and whatever sounds like '8 minutes'.
